Human trafficking is a multi billion dollar business and is now the second largest criminal industry after drug trafficking. There are roughly 30 million victims of human trafficking and modern day slavery in the world today.
It is estimated that there are over 1 million new victims of human trafficking each year.
The most common form of human trafficking is sexual exploitation with the majority of the victims being women and girls.
There are more slaves today than there were during the four centuries of the trans-Atlantic slave trade.
